Most of you who read my blog know that I love the blog done by blogger Twisty Faster at Iblamethepatriarchy.com. Twisty just has so many amazing things to say about Feminism and just life in general. She gives me a good laugh just about every time I look at her blog.
Anywho, not long ago I commented quickly about her dog, asking a little more about it and today I received a nod from Twisty.
She actually read my comment and commented on said comment in one of her blogs. It was amazing. Ridiculous but amazing. Anyways, here is her page and the blog mentioned if you want to read it:

Recycle DAMMIT!
I love recycling. I feel so accomplished whenever I do even the smallest thing to help out the world that I live in and pollute almost ever minute without even meaning to. Life is hard, times are tough, and I will do as much as I can at this point in my life to keep the earth cleaner and safer. I want kids someday so I have to keep the world in good shape for them too! :]
I try my best to just do what I can, tell people along the way how to help, and just mind my business while doing what I have set out to accomplish, but I get really upset when people don't recycle when it is so easy and they just chose to be lazy.
How hard is it to put soda cans and plastic bottles in the blue trash can instead of the black? How hard is it to take the two seconds to look at the side of your cereal or snack box, see the recycle symbol and then dump it into the recycle trash can? NOT HARD AT ALL! I just feel like if you live on the planet you should do that little bit at least to make sure that it runs somewhat smoothly and in good condition.
No matter what we do, no matter how clean the air is, or how small the landfills are, there will always be hatred, violence, and war. The least we can do the keep the world clean for the future and for ourselves is recycle, be conscious about how we are living, and do our part to live as green as we can.
I mean, dammit people, you are already paying the crv for cans and bottles, you can cash it in for MONEY, or at least RECYCLE IT, PERIOD!
The time to live GREEN is NOW! Recycle, Try to cut down on driving, and Don't buy foods heavily sprayed with pesticides. It is that easy to start our world off on the path to a brighter, greener future.

Lucifer, Truly Living up to Her Name
Today had its high points and it's long points. The only real, major blow worth mentioning is the backstabbery and bitchiness of the one I know not-so-fondly as Lucifer. You all know to whom I am referring.
This morning, I woke up tired and groggy. I was not excited to face the day ahead, but I found solace in knowing that today my wonderful boyfriend and I have been together for exactly one year and four months. I am usually not very sentimental and mushy but with him, I always am. Almost every day of our one year and four months together has been amazing. So today, I was very excited to be able to look back and think of all the amazing times we have spent together. Then he called me and that idea was soon crushed.
While standing beside John Burroughs High School at 7:15am, in a purple tulle tutu no less, my darling Evan called to inform me that his sister, the low-life of all low-lives..had finally done something that I thought even she would not try. She had done a big fat TATTLE.
To make a long story short, she told Evan's already crazy and overbearing mother that her little boy might actually be serious about leaving her and the nest someday. His mother's pea-sized brain then just about exploded with just one thought," THIS CANNOT HAPPEN! WHO WILL LOVE ME WHEN HE HAS GONE? NO ONE! SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!!!"
Evan's mother then proceeded to march into his room and tell him that if he was even thinking about marrying me before he was a few years done with college, she and the family would DISOWNS HIM!! Yes, I was not quivering in fear over this small, ridiculous comment, but my poor innocent Evan was. She had him scared that she would disown him and leave him with nothing.
This situation with Evan and his mother has not yet been resolved and I will follow up when it does, but all I can think about through all of this is Lucifer, disgusting Lucifer and her attempts to stop my boyfriend from being happy for even an instant.
Lucifer knew that the moment she went to her mother, Evan would be punished. "How did you know this?" you may ask. I know this because Lucifer had once been in the exact same situation. Even foul, detestable, putrid Lucifer had once had love. Lucifer tried to leave the nest and punished gravely. She and her once love did not marry and she remains unmarried and unhappy. Seeing that her baby brother of 16 years was happy and wanted the same thing she once wanted, wouldn't you think that she would want to protect him? No, she only cares about herself. She wants him to suffer just like she did. She is scum and should be treated as such.
She just fears that we will be married before she is, which is probably the truth, but what kind of person back-stabs their own family for no reason other than to feel a little bit better themselves, even when the person did nothing to them? Lucifer does this.
She will never be happy. She is not worthy of happiness. And I wish her just that, unhappiness for as long as she walks alone on this earth. She is the pebble in my shoe but she will not keep me down, make me stumble, or keep me from walking through my life happily. She will not do this to me or my wonderful Evan. We will rise and she will fall. Good always conquers over Evil. And there are none more evil than her.

John Lautner
Yesterday I went and saw the "Between Earth and Heaven" exhibit at the Hammer for John Lautner and it was fantastic! John Lautner was an architect who created amazing houses and buildings with great lines that let you see both in the house and out.
Most of his structures used lots of glass, like whole walls of glass that would look out onto picturesque views of valleys and rivers.
He exhibit had all his sketches as well as full models of a few of his most famous structures and they are all really amazing. You can also watch the videos that are projected onto the wall to get an in depth look and tour of the actual structure.
The exhibit is really worth going to see so you should try and see it before it leaves on October 12th.

Consumer Driven World
I have decided, I am tired of buying so many thing and feeling like I am contributing to the idea that this society has that you need to constantly buy all the newest thing and keep up with the Jones's. I just want to live a life that I can be proud of, knowing that I am not being gluttonous or wasting money frivolously. Now that I am all set up with school clothes and supplies, I am ready. I am going to try and not buy anything at all, until the SEPTEMBER!
I will not:
-buy new clothes
-buy new gadgets
-go to any salons
-buy new makeup
-buy anything but food
-eat out!
I am not going to spend any money. I am not going to fuel the crazy economy and the need our society has to buy crap we don't need. I am really looking forward to this!

Pet Name Pet Peeves
I think a pet name now and then is great: Baby, Honey, Darling, Babe, Sugar Lips, etc.
But doesnt it feel good, once and while to just have them say your name? Signifying that they are talking to YOU, that they mean YOU, and that the washed up old pet name is one thing but that they love YOU YOU YOU.
Guys saying, "I love you baby", gets old after awhile. You want to hear them proclaim that they love YOU, not "baby". Because your name is you and baby is whoever, anyone can be called that, be addressed by that. You don't even know who else they may have called that.
Sometimes it is just so good to be addressed by the one you love as your name.

Promises and Love
It would appear that I am not keeping good to my promise. Very sorry for not writing more, my time has been so limited.
Its funny how people make and break promises so easily, I guess its just knowing what promises are important enough to keep.
Like, when people say their vows, promising to have and hold, honor and cherish, why don't people take promises like that more seriously? Those seem a lot more substantial than promising to be BFFs Forever! I just wish people would remember to take care of one another and love each other to the best of their ability.
I think its such a shame that people cant seem to stay married and so many of the couples who do stay married aren't even happy together. They stay together for their kids, to keep good face with their families, or to not be another statistic. I cant understand how people fall in and out of love with each other so fast.
So much of the time, I think people assume that the other person has changed or has wronged them somehow, making it okay to severe the ties between the two, but love is such a conscious choice. you have to choose to love people. Life is hard and it seems like it is impossible to see over people's flaws and love them, but you have to! You have to choose to love them! You have to fight for love between two people.
I just hope that people start to see that love is important and worth having and taking care of. I just want everyone to strive to love the person next to them, because if we all just chose to love just a little bit more..life would be so much more bearable and worth living.

School
I am finding that the best thing about school is new school year clothes shopping. It is just the best feeling to be getting rid of any old clothes that you dont want for a brand new set. So far Ive gotten:
4 new shirts
2 new bras
10 new pairs of underwear
and 3 new pairs of shoes!
I still have so much to get. The possibilities are ENDLESS!

Chorizo, Bean and Cheese Nachos
Tonight I made dinner for my boyfriend and my mom. It was from a recipe I got from some girls I go to school with. I had it once and really liked it. I made it again tonight and I loved it this time as well. From the 3 people that ate it, myself included, it received a big 3 THUMBS UP! I thought I might pass along the recipe to anyone looking to make something cheap, fast, and delicious!
1lb Chorizo (pork or beef)
1tbsp chopped garlic
2c cooked pinto beans
1/2tsp chili powder
1/4tsp salt
Tortilla chips
3 cups cheese (cheddar or pepper-jack)(grated)
1/2 of one small, white onion (cut into thin rings)
Sour cream
1tbsp fresh lime or lemon juice
Chopped cilantro
In a large skillet, cook chorizo and garlic. Stir over med. heat until brown ~ 5 min
Remove meat from skillet and drain meat on a paper towel
In the same skillet with leftover fat, add beans, chili powder, salt and 1/2c water
Cook over medium heat until warmed thoroughly, then mash until smooth and remove.
Preheat the oven to 450degrees
On a large oven platter, spread a layer of chips.
Cover that layer with 1/2 of your beans
Then cover that layer with 1/2 of your chorizo.
Cover the chorizo layer with 1/2 of your grated cheese and top with 1/2 onion rings.
Repeat with another layer of chips, beans, chorizo, cheese, and onions.
Bake for 5-8 minutes and then remove from heat.
Whisk sour cream and lime/lemon juice with a pinch of salt.
Drizzle or nachos and garnish with cilantro.
(My mom added some fresh, diced tomatoes which she enjoyed and you can try if you like)

Lucifer
I am with Evan a lot and I find that whenever we are around Lucifer I have a much harder time enjoying myself.
She is just so unpleasant and bitchy. She can not say anything and still be a bitch. She just never says hello, or cares to ask about how evan is or say good morning to him. She just walks around at noon in her pjs like a slob, goes on the computer, and eats. I don't think she is capable of much more. She is a pretty worthless human being.
She just spends money, mooches, and lazes around. She doesn't have a job but yet she is always going out to lunch or buying little things. I don't know how she has the money for that. I think she still asks Evan's parents for money or allowance or something and she is over 20. That is kinda sad. She needs to grow up and get her own something. I don't think she could survive without them giving her money though. She is a moocher and I would detest having to live with her.
I just hate her the more I have to be in her presence. She is a pebble in the shoe of the world, a pest to be done away with, nothing more.

Blog Life
Sorry I have not written in so long. I had not written in 10 days before today, but I am finally writing and I have so much to say. It is crazy how the words just start to flow once you stop to take the time and acknowledge that you have them to say.
Lately I have been so busy with volleyball finishing up and
*****RANDOM TANGENT***** A pop-up just popped up, which actually shouldn't have happened, but anyways, and it was for NetFlix and it had Gregory Peck on it, who used to be one fine, sexy, beast! Just sayin'...*****RANDOM TANGENT*****
my mom's birthday yesterday. I have not had more than a few minutes to come on here each day, and mostly I've just been checking in with my favorite, Twisty Faster. I will try to be more adamant about writing. If not everyday, then at least once or twice a week.
Sorry for the lapse but I will try not to let it happen again. Friends and family, you are in my prayers, readers who I do not know... I pray for you when I pray for the betterment of the world each day. Thank you for reading.

The Truth About Forever

I just finished reading The Truth about Forever yesterday. It's by Sarah Dessen who writes really fabulous books.
I have to admit, they all are a little similar but I never get sick of them. This one is about a girl, named Macy, who is striving with everything she has be perfect after her father's death. She is seeking perfection in herself and realizes a lot on the way.
In this book, like in many other Dessen books, there is a possible love that you just can't wait for the main character to be with. You will read this book and read frantically, trying to get to the part where things start heating up between Macy and the beautiful and amazing, Wes.
Dessen dreams up the most amazing fictional love interests. They are all quirky and beautiful, kind and sweet, funny and charming... They have it all. Wes is no exception in The Truth about Forver.
I really really loved this book. I will definitely be getting a few more Dessen books soon that I have yet to read. I can't wait.
I will leave you with a quote from this book, a book that has become new favorite of mine: "Everyone has a forever, but given a choice, this would be mine. The one that began in this moment...in a kiss that took my breath away, then gave it back -leaving me astounded, amazed, and most of all, alive.
Oh, and thank you thank you thank you to my good friend Meagan Chow who suggested this fine work to me. Thank you Meagan!
The Dark Knight

So, I saw The Dark Knight last Tuesday and I am just finding time now to write about it. I have to say, I really, really liked it. It was definitely a thriller and had me hyperventilating almost the entire way through. It was suspenseful as well entertaining.
The story line has a lot of twists in it, especially for someone like me, who knows nothing about Batman and the Batman comics. The story has all the basic elements, bag guys, love interests, explosions, etc., but it is still really interesting and fun to watch.
The acting by Heath Ledger is greaaatt. He did an absolutely amazing job with the Joker character. He definitely gave it a different feel from the classic Jack Nicholson Joker that most people were used to. Ledger took the funny, comic-relief Joker and traded him in for a newer, younger, and much more twisted one, that I think a lot of people appreciate.
I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone in the mood for a lot of action. I would not suggest bringing any small children, because like me, they may become scared. It is worth your $11 because not only is it a really good film but they don't skimp and give you an hour and 45 minute movie like most now days. The Dark Knight has a running time of two hours and 30 minutes. While the movie is running, your heart will be racing, I guarantee it! Go see it while it is still in theatres!
I give it: 4.6 STARS!

Best Thing I've Read in AGES!
'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor
have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is
about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.
The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came
across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe.
It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek
poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy
with the direction the country is headed and 69
percent of the country is unhappy with the performance
of the President.
In essence 2/3 of the citizenry
just ain't happy and want a change.
So being the
knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we
so unhappy about?'
Is it that we have electricity and running
water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
Is our unhappiness the result of having
air conditioning in the summer and heating in the
winter?
Could it be that 95.4 percent of these
unhappy folks have a job?
Maybe it is the ability to walk into a
grocery store at any time and see more food in
moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars
and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic
Ocean without having to present identification papers
as we move through each state?
Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe
motels we would find along the way that can provide
temporary shelter?
I guess having thousands of restaurants
with varying cuisine
from around the world is just not good enough either.
Or could it be that when we wreck our car,
emergency workers show up and provide services to help
all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of
Americans who own a home.
You may be upset with knowing that in the
unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained
firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch
equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you,
your family, and your belongings.
Or if, while at home watching one of your
many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes,
an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest
will come to defend you and your family against attack
or loss.
This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood
free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the
residents.
Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own
cell phones and computers.
How about the complete religious, social and
political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the
world?
Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful,
spoiled brats the world has ever seen.
No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its
citizens. They see us for what we are. The most
blessed people in the world who do nothing but
complain about what we don't have, and what we hate
about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we
live here.
I know, I know.
What about the president who took us
into war and has no plan to get us out? The
president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating?
Is this the same president who guided the nation in
the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut
taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could
this be the same guy who has been called every name in
the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled
ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The
commander-in- chief of an all-volunteer army that is
out there defending you and me?
Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or
talk show?
Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy
you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see
all the good things and be glad? Think about
it......are you upset at the President because he
actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the
'Media'told you he was failing to kiss your sorry
ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.
The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to
serve, and in many cases may have died for your
freedom. There is currently no draft in this country.
They didn't have to go.
They are able to refuse to go
and end up with either a ' 'general' discharge, an other-than-honorable'
discharge or, worst case scenario, a'dishonorable' discharge after a few
days in the brig.
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds
of 69 percent of Americans?
Say what you want but I blame it on the media.
If it
bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news.
Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts.
How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the
corner? The media knows this and media outlets are
for-profit corporations.
They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to
defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way
or another.
Just ask why they tried to allow a
murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how
he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have
done it this way......Insane!
Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York
Times for the bottom of your bird cage.
Then start
being grateful for all we have as country.
There is
exponentially more good than bad.
We are among the
most blessed people on Earth and should thank God
several times a day, or at least be thankful and
appreciative.

of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms
tearing up the country from one end to another, and
with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks,

the Pledge of Allegiance?''

I had never heard anyone view my same opinion about Bush before. I feel so ecstatic that SOMEONE else thought the same way and said it. Beautiful stuff. This man practically lives in my city and I have never been so proud of what he has had to say. Everything he had to say was true and it makes you remember to be grateful for everything you have because we take the blessings that we have for granted just because they are considered "Necessities of Life" in America. ELECTRONICS AND CELL PHONES ARE NOT NECESSITIES OF LIFE! I hope anyone who reads this will remember to be grateful next time they eat fast food, talk on the phone, or go to see a doctor, because there are soooo many people out there that would kill for those things and would be far more appreciative of them than many Americans.
have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is
about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.

Babies
On Saturday, I was driving down the street with my mom on our way to pick up some Jone's Soda and as we were driving we looked to the side and there was this baby boy, about 1 and a half, sitting in the street with no shoes or pants on, just a diaper and a shirt, playing with leaves. HE WAS JUST SITTING IN THE STREET!
There was this old guy on the curb like 5 ft. from him, but the man didn't seem to be with the baby, so we rolled down the window and asked him if he was with the baby, he said he wasn't and wasn't sure who the baby belonged too.
I got out and picked up the baby, who was very cute and smiley, and I had to go and knock on a few doors on the street to see which house he probably came from. I have NEVER wanted to steal a child so badly! I really didn't want to find those parents, he was soo cute! Plus, what kind of parents don't realize that their baby is missing. Well, I guess it could happen to anyone.
When I was 1 and a half, my dad was taking a nap and I was watching a video. He didn't lock the top lock so I just walked right out of the apartment and down two flights of stairs. Some neighborhood drunk found me, recognized me and took me back up to my house. That was a real shock to my dad, waking up to someone at your door telling you your kid had been wandering around outside!
Anyways, I found the kid's parents and gave him back, but it was hard. He was a sweetie-pie

Harold and Maude

Today I watched an amazing movie called Harold and Maude! It was made in 1971 and is hysterical!
It is about a boy who is depressed and not really seeing the beauty in life. Then he meets this crazy old bird named Maude. Together they go on all kinds of crazy adventures and form a strong bond. The movie has tons of funny parts and some really great casting.
The guy who plays Harold is really funny and Maude is just plain kooky the entire movie through and she makes the whole movie that much more. Plus, all the music is by Cat Stevens and does not only sound great, but it really fits well with the movie, which has a lot of ironic humor.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some laughs and a movie that will make them feel optimistic.
I give it: 4.4 STARS!
Menchies if you Please

The BEST frozen yogurt shop BY FAR, is Menchies. I have been there like 8 times now and I cannot get enough!
You go in and they have every thing as serve and mix yourself. You get tester cups and you can sample everything that they have up. They usually have 8 yogurt flavors up at one time, ranging from cake batter, raspberry tart, espresso, irish mint, etc. They always have vanilla and chocolate! They flavors are always changing. As one runs out they fill it with another at random.
You then go to the mixins section where there is tons of candy bits, fresh fruit, brownie bites, mochi, and cheese cake bites! Everything is kosher! You mix in exactly what you want and how much of it!
Then you pay by weight, not by size. It is only $.39 an ounce so it is cheaper than cold stones, penguins, top of the swirl, pinkberry and yogurtiers. Also, it doesn't have that sour taste that pinkberry and some other places have! Gross.
Menchies is amazing. Here is their website: http://www.menchiesyogurt.com/
I give it: 5.0 STARS!
Tonight
Tonight was perfection. I've never been out with so many different people, most of whom I didn't know, and had such a good time.
It is amazing the changes that can happen in just a short amount of time. You can go from really thinking that you will never get along with a person to being completely friendly with them and wanting to spend more time with them.
Bowling was great and so were all the people. Tonight was exactly what I needed.

You can Bobe my Loca, honey!!
Tonight I had my first real BobaLoca. I have always just sorta awkwardly stood there while my friends got one, thinking it was not my thing. Tonight I got one and it really wasn't bad. I liked it, way more than I thought I would.
I got the White Chocolate Boba Frapp! It was really tasty.
My friends got the Tazo, which is my favorite color, lavender, and tastes like watery, buttered popcorn! IT IS STILL DELICIOUS THOUGH! I would recommend it.

Good Friend
I have a really good friend, who I like to call Mobily. She is my inspiration and keeps me going through the hard times. I just wanted to write a little snippet about her since she means so much to me.
She is kind, decent, caring, giving, funny, creative, smart, athletic, and has got a rockin' bod! Well, Mobily, when you read this, know that you mean a lot to me and volleyball and making fun of Lucifer would not be the same without you!

Shut the F-UP!
Alright, so I just got back from my boyfriend's house. Love that guy, by the way. But his sister, who I will now only refer to as Lucifer, is just a total, arrogant, bitch.
I can't stand people who talk like they know what the hell they are talking about when CLEARLY they do not! The car ride home, first she butt into a conversation that I was trying not to include her in because she is an ignorant jack ass and then she decided to control the conversation by talking complete bull about herself.
She talked about feminism like she is smart enough to understand it and then went on to say that she believed that men were portrayed badly in the media. This has truth to it, but she is one to talk about how men should be treated. She has some like, 6 months max rule or something, because she can't possibly seem to hold any guy longer than that. I just wanted to smack her and say, "When you stop recycling guys, then talk to me about this!"
Fuck that bitch. Her little deal is, she brings guys over to her house, watches movies with them and then goes into the pool with them so she can show off her cellulite, cottage cheese ass. DON'T SAY THAT YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY WOMAN ARE PORTRAYED AS SEX OBJECTS IF YOU MAKE YOURSELF OUT TO BE ONE BY BRINGING GUYS OVER THAT TO SHOW OFF YOUR BODY TO THEM! Then when she is done with them in her pool make-out lair, then she takes them into her room to sit on her BED and "listen to music"!
After about 6 months of dating, she tries to get each of these guys to marry her, and they realize that they would be throwing their life away and run as fast as they can! GOOD CHOICE GUYS! She won't give you credit for it because she doesn't really believe in your self image, but good thinking.
Complete crap. People should stick to subjects they can actually talk about, like in her case, how to be a stupid bitch.
That is all about her stupidity for tonight, but I am SURE that there will be more.

Boy A
*MOVIE REVIEW*

Today, I watched Boy A and I have to say, I was disappointed. The story itself was moderately interesting but the movie was soooo slow! I almost gave up half way through. Life is too short to watch bad movies, but this time I plugged away, sure that it would get better. It did not until the last 25 minutes and the movie was an 1hr. and 39 minutes.
The overall story was about a man who goes back into society after being in prison more than half of his life. The preview on Apple.com makes it seem so fast passed and exciting, but it really isn't.
The film overall was kinda choppy and awkwardly done. Plus, I'm not a fan of graphic sex scenes which this movie does have. SPARE ME! AND MY BIGGEST MOVIE PET PEEVE OF ALL, when a couple has been having lots of sex together in a film and then after they have been together a good deal of time they say some cheesy bull like, "I think I'm in love with you..."! It's like, if you didn't realize that before you had sex with them for the first time, then you definitely shouldn't have been having sex with them to begin with. Idiots.
The ending is depressing and a little lack luster. I would only suggest anyone seeing it if they are in this situation: They are at home, bored, and there is absolutely nothing else on TV but this.
I Give it: 2.8 STARS!

Books with a side of SCAM!
Ridiculous! I'm pretty much boycotting Barnes&Noble! Today I went online to find 4 books that I wanted to buy. I had a gift card so I thought this was a good opportunity to get to use it up and without ever picking my bottom off the chair I am sitting at now.
I was very excited to find all the books I wanted used and for under $7! I was thinking,"WHAT A STEAL, MAN!" I was buying three books for $2(two for me, one as a favor to my friend), one for $3, and the last for about $6. I was so stoked. The total said that without shipping and handling it was $15. That was perfect for using my $20 gift card and still having enough to pay for shipping and handling. SO I THOUGHT! Then, I went to check out and it came out to $35! That was quiet a change from it being around $20 and it telling me my shipping would only be $4 numerous times while finishing!
The whole thing is a scam! They made it seem like you are getting such a great deal but really, thats total bull my friend. If on my $6 book I wanted to pay $11, I would save myself the 4-14 day wait and go in to B&N and buy it for $12 new!
Two of my books were coming from the exact same vendor, so why was I paying $8 for shipping on those instead of $4? It doesn't cost $8 to send two, 100 page books by mail. Ri-friggin-diculous.
I didn't want to pay from my pocket, so I canceled on of my $2 books and the $6 book. My books then cost $7. With shipping and handling it came out to $19.85. $20 for 3 used books who's condition I haven't even seen yet. Yippe. I'm really feeling the saving. Thanks so much for the awesome deal, B&N. From now on, I will just go to a used book store and pay $5 a piece for each book, rather then cushion the nest of those greedy, deceiving, corporate low-lives over at B&N.
That was the last time I will buy from B&N for a long, LOOONNNG time.

Get Smart
*MOVIE REVIEW*

Tonight I went and saw Get Smart, with Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway, and I have to say, I really, really liked it!
Usually, I really don't like movies with Steve Carell or any old SNL members (i.e. Will Ferrel, Adam Sandler) but this one, I actually liked. It had a good amount of witty as well as stupid humor, which I appreciate. *DOUBLE BONUS* NOT all the moderately funny parts were in the trailer, the movie ACTUALLY had OTHER funny parts! WHAT A CONCEPT, OH MAHH LOWARRDDD!
It made me laugh, had good casting, explained why Anne Hathaway's character wasn't closer to Steve Carell in age, like the 2 characters in sitcom, and ended in a non-cheesy, leading up to sequel kind of way. Good Job, People who worked on Get Smart!
*DOUBLE EXTRA SPECIAL CHERRY ON TOP BONUS* This movie was semi, almost, not totally a rip off because it was in fact, 1hr. and 50 minutes, ALMOST a whole two hours, making it like 25 minutes longer than most comedies these days that cannot come up with enough material for a whole 2 hours! So, it's got more bang for you buck if you want to go see it, and if you are one of the losers who goes to movies just to make out, the fact that it is longer will be a benefit to you too. PARTTYY TIME!
I Give it: 4.3 STARS!

Viva la Elliott Hundley!
Right, so my aunt's work, or some of it, was shown at the Hammer during an exhibition called Eden's Edge: 15 LA artists and while I was there I met and saw the work of Elliott Hundley. I have to say that it is all completely and utterly fabulous!
A lot of the work that night, other than my aunts, was a little sick and twisted, and Hundley's work, twisted maybe=, but totally genius! It's all like huge collages of good pictures and weird crap all thrown together in a really beautiful way. I say, "Bravo man, Bravo!"
I mean, he had this one piece called, "Deathless Aphrodite of the Spangled Mind", and first of all, after a title like that, I would totally wanna see it. Once you do see it, the name isn't too big for the piece because the piece is ENORMO and is totally kick-ass, yo!
He has tons of good stuff. I wanna give that guy a hand shake and a hug or something because he is amazing.
If you ever get a chance to look up any of his art or see any of it, try to check out
The Cave, which was my personal favorite.
(A room with some of Hundley's Work)

Perspective
Sometimes it feels so good to just go out with someone that you feel close to and really get some perspectives on life.
I just went to Porto's with my friend Claudia Choi. She's an actress and was my volleyball coach this year. I love her lots.
Anyways, I had been feeling pretty anxious and scared about where my life is going in the way of volleyball and college. I had been feeling like I was at a major crossroads where I could not have both. I could either focus on volleyball and try to go to some school, crazy far away to play or stay local and just go to college here. I am staring to feel like I can have both if I put the effort in.
Over delicious food, we talked about what I should do and how I should do it, as well as a few discussions about crazy people and perverts. I am so glad that everything is finally starting to take shape and I know what I have to do to get what I want.
Today..was great!

Into the Wild
*MOVIE REVIEW*
So, the other day I saw Into the Wild, and it was absolutely amazing. I loved it.

It is about this kid, right out of college, who decides the society is totally sick and the want for so many material things is just wrong. So, he takes only a few provisions, burns his money, and sets off on a cross-country trip on foot and with the help of people along the way, to Alaska.
It is a true story about Chris McCandless aka Alexander SuperTramp, who really did go into the wild to find himself and become more one with nature and the universe.
The movie makes you want to just go out into the wild like Chris McCandless and find your own cross-country adventure. It makes you want to get up and do something. The movie will probably make you cry, but it's worth the watch.
Into the Wild was based on the novel, Into the Wild, which I am now absolutely determined to read this summer!
BONUS! The music for the movie is all done by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, and it completely fantastic! If you email me, I will send you the entire album. The album is like 30 minutes long and sounds just perfect. You should definitely take a listen, as well as see the movie.
I Give it: 4.7 STARS!

Props to Gin
No, not gin like the alcoholic beverage, gin like Ginny Bishton, by fabulous aunt and artist. I also have her to thank for me making this blog. She has been the one who got me really into Twisty, who finalized the idea of me making a blog of my own.
Ginny is the greatest aunt, and all around person, that I know. She is completely giving and caring. I always have her when I need her. I cannot begin to count the favors that she has done for me and my family.
Plus, she is a brilliant artist. Some of her work can be seen at the Richard Telles Gallery and it's all beautiful stuff. I know I would love it, even if she wasn't my aunt. Her work is so bright and fun, so simple and pure. It's just perfect.
I am really blessed to have a person like her in my life.
Here is some of her work:

This is some of her earlier work. This was done in 1997 when I was at the tender age of 5. It is of dozens of vegetables collaged together beautifully.

This is part of her walking collection and the piece is made up of, millions I'm sure, itty-bitty circles of fotos of plants and flowers that she took while walking.

This is my favorite piece from her latest soup collection. My aunt made dozens of different colored soups and then photographed them and put them into beautiful pieces like this one.

Vote for Feminism
I now am starting to consider myself a feminist. I used to stereotype feminists as crazy women with hairy armpits, who didn't wear bras, and picketed for softer tampons or something. Kinda like this:

but now, I have realized that I should not be so judgmental about people fighting for MY right! Who cares what they look like, that shouldn't and doesn't matter. What they stand for is still the same, equality and better living for women! Hell, I want better tampons! So, I am now considering myself a feminist. I am going to remain shaving my legs and armpits, but I still believe that shouldn't be something to judge my character on nonetheless.
Feminists have some really good views on how the world needs to change in a more positive way for women and any woman can try to make a difference by standing up for what they feel is wrong with how they are being treated and looked at by society.
More on this later.

A little of my Life
A little bit more about me:
I live with my just my mom and my parents are divorced. I am 16 and currently attending a really nice public high school. I love my friends and I love most of my family, the family that I am still in contact with. I am completely in love with my boyfriend of over a year, Evan. He is perfection.

That's Him!
We get into little scuffs now and again, but we never give up on each other. We plan to be married someday and I couldn't be happier about it. Well, I guess that's not true. He has a really nice set of parents. His dad is wonderful, totally giving and self-sacrificing. His mom seems nice and like she tries her best to do right by her son. Since I love him a lot, I appreciate this. His sister on the other hand, I cannot stand. I guess it could be worse, but I just wish that she was a nicer person so marrying into his family wouldn't seem so...unappealing.

The Weepies
I have just started listening to a new band and I love them already. There sound is soo pure and uplifting. In a world where there is so much wrong, we need more songs to uplift us!
The band is called The Weepies and they are pure bliss. I want to hug them. They are a married couple, which I totally respect. I think it's fabulous that they have found something that they both love to do, create music, and they can share it with each other. God forbid they become like Sonny and Cher, and I mean that in all possible ways, but mostly just in them splitting up. They have some absolutely fabulous songs. My personal favorites so far are:

- Old Coyote
Beginnings
I hate how the beginnings in most novels start out so slowly; boring and unentertaining. I want things to start off with a BANG! So, when telling about myself now, in this beginning to my blog and blogging experience, I will try to make it as entertaining as possible, or at least short and sweet.
I am starting this blog because I feel inspired. Recently, I have been feeling inspired by now fellow blogger, Twisty Faster. Her feminist blogs and really thought provoking and make you want to take a step back and realize that the world is pretty f-ed up. I respect her ideas totally and it made me want to write too. I don't know that I only want to talk about feminism, but I do know that I want to write about what is relevant to me. I want to inspire people, I want to make people think, I want to share what I am thinking, I want to express what I am thinking and not always able to say aloud. That is why I am here. That is why I am doing this. Are you still awake? Hope so. I will write on here whenever I find something that I need to say, jot down, and write just so that it will feel that much more real. I hope that you will enjoy this journey to express myself as a person and tell of the world I live in now, with all its ups and down.
